This week in the Caring for Our Communities online giving campaign, we’re highlighting one of our sponsors, Northeast Bank. What began as a banking relationship all the way back in 1999 has since become a relationship based on shared investment in serving our Northeast Minneapolis community.
About Northeast Bank
Northeast Bank was founded in 1947 in Northeast Minneapolis to fill a void of banking services in the community. Since then, they’ve operated on the philosophy of putting people first and supporting Northeast Minneapolis families, small businesses, and organizations like Neighborhood HealthSource.
This year, Northeast Bank received a review of “Outstanding” from the FDIC for compliance with the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). The review looks at how banks meet the needs of local communities; this is the eighth consecutive review period in which Northeast Bank has received an outstanding review. This commitment to serving the community is at the heart of Northeast Bank’s decision to support Neighborhood HealthSource.
“Like Northeast Bank, Neighborhood HealthSource has a long history of meeting the needs of our community.”

Supporting Our Clinics & Community
“We really embrace the NHS mission of providing affordable, accessible healthcare to our community,” says Sue Sjoselius, Director of Risk Management and Marketing at Northeast Bank. “At Northeast Bank, we aren’t healthcare experts. We aren’t experts in education or social services. But we know our community needs those things to thrive, so we partner with organizations that do have that expertise.”
Sue understands the NHS mission on a personal level, too. “Back when I was newly married and without health insurance, I went to Sheridan Clinic for healthcare,” she says. “Like Northeast Bank, Neighborhood HealthSource has a long history of meeting the needs of our community.”
