On October 28th, 2025, Neighborhood HealthSource (NHS) hosted its annual Sheridan Trunk-or-Treat Coat Giveaway at Sheridan Clinic in Northeast Minneapolis. The event, generously sponsored by Medica and organized in collaboration with community organizations, brought together more than 438 attendees. Families enjoyed an evening with Halloween fun activities including delicious food for all participants, educational opportunities from various community partners, and the opportunity to participate in raffle drawings and a costume contest.
Beyond the festive atmosphere, a cornerstone of the annual gathering is the coat giveaway, ensuring local children and families are prepared for the cold Minnesota winter. This year, NHS was proud to distribute 76 coats, 25 pairs of snow pants, and lots of additional warm clothing.
The commitment to community well-being extended beyond winter wear. One of the key contributions came from the community partner Sustainable Resource Center (SRC), who was on-site to conduct essential health screenings. SRC screened 28 kids and individuals for lead poisoning, providing a vital health service directly within the community setting.
“I am really grateful to see many community organizations that share a valued mission in supporting those in need. It is through continued partnerships like these that allow us to support our patients, families, and communities we serve,” said an NHS representative.

The event definitely exemplified how collaboration can strengthen the community and provide tangible support to those who need it most.
